On Wednesday, the City of Minneapolis announced a $750,000 investment in eight local artists and entrepreneurs to reimagine empty retail spaces as hubs for culture and creativity. The grants are a continuation of the Vibrant Storefronts initiative, now in its second year, to revitalize downtown.
The initiative allows local artists and creatives to collaborate with property owners by subsidizing rent for two years. The city’s goal is for local artists and creative entrepreneurs to foster spaces for art and culture, and, in tandem, promote a more creative, vibrant, and sustainable Minneapolis.
This year's list of artists and entrepreneurs includes Evergreen Audio, Modern Day Me, Grainline, Strange Loop Laboratory, Center for People and Craft, Zoma House, True North Studios x Curioso Coffee, and Cruise.
