INtro to Kolrosing

Tuesday, May 12: 6:30 - 9 PM

Kolrosing is a craft of the people. Truly accessible, all you need is a wooden surface, a knife to incise lines, a pigmented powder like cinnamon or coffee to fill the lines, a bit of oil, a hard smooth object for burnishing cuts closed, and your own hands and eyes. The materials and the basics are simple once you get the hang of them, but you can take the craft wherever you want, from simple symbols and letters to stunning patterns and illustrations.

Jules Dungca fell headfirst into the world of folk art through a one day beginner greenwood spoon carving class and has since then been branching out to as many crafts and related skills as he can get his hands on—broommaking, tool restoration, leatherworking, kolrosing! He’s in danger of getting sucked down the rabbit hole of textile and fiber arts next. His favorite thing about hand crafts is how they ground you in the present, in tactility, and in community with others.
