POLICIES

Non-Discrimination Policy

It is a policy of CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT that there will be no discrimination or harassment on the grounds of race, color, sex, gender identity, marital status, religion, national origin, age, sexual orientation, or disability in any of our events or operations.

Accessibility Statement

CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT values increasing access to traditional craft and intergenerational learning. Our goal is to make our classes accessible to anyone with an interest in learning. We are open to exploring and learning how to adapt craft to a range of abilities. CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT is also committed to ensuring digital accessibility. Please contact us if you have comments, concerns, or questions.

Scholarships

CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT is committed to building a diverse, inclusive learning community where people of all backgrounds feel welcome and able to participate. As we launch our first workshop series, we are dedicating space in each class for reduced-tuition scholarships to support anyone facing financial barriers. As we build a more robust scholarship program, we hope this initial launch will remove barriers and expand access to hands-on learning for all.

Anyone with financial need is encouraged to apply for a half-tuition scholarship. To be considered, please submit a brief online application. Please note that CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT is operating with limited financial resources and an entirely volunteer staff. Therefore,  we cannot guarantee a spot for every applicant. Each class has one scholarship slot available. Applicants who are not selected in this current round are welcome to reapply.  Apply here.

Liability in Classes

CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT, Twin Cities Makers Circle, and all teachers and volunteers are not liable for any injury that may occur during a class. All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver before each class, and CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT teachers and other representatives will notify all participants of any safety risks prior to the activity.

Age Requirements

Each teacher has determined a minimum age for their class that is appropriate to the skill being shared.

Cancellations

CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT is able to provide refunds up to two weeks before the start date of the class for which the registration was submitted, though we do retain a $20 fee for return payment processing. If you need to cancel your class within the two week window, a refund is not guaranteed, but will be considered based on several factors.

If CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT needs to cancel a class due to low enrollment, teacher illness, or other factors, you will receive a full refund.

Waiting Lists

CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT will keep a waiting list for any class that reaches capacity, as determined by the teacher of that class. If there is a cancellation and a spot becomes available, people on the waiting list will be notified on a first-come, first-served basis. To be added to the waiting list of a specific class, please email info@peopleandcraft.org.

Privacy

We value the privacy of our students, teachers, and mailing list subscribers. CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT and its partners will not share your email, phone number, or other personal information unless you have given explicit permission to do so.

If you are attending a CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT class or event and have signed our liability waiver, you consent to your photo being used in our promotional material, website, and other material. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know before or during your class and we will respect your request.

Class Pricing

Our price structure is determined, in large part, by our values and respect for local materials and support of local educators. Class tuition is based on a few criteria, including cost of tool rental, administrative time, and other factors. Teachers are paid a respectable market rate for their time leading the classroom. Class material fees are determined by each teacher, and include the cost of materials and time preparing the materials for student use.

Class size

CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT and its teachers limit the class size to 6-15 students to ensure the safety and one-on-one instruction time for all participants. The class size is determined by the availability of tools and equipment, as well as the preference of the class teacher.

Fiscal Sponsorship

CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT is a project of Free Forest School, a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Minneapolis, MN. As our fiscal sponsor, Free Forest School enables CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT to operate as a non-profit, so we are able to apply for grants, receive tax-deductible donations, and focus on realizing our mission and values.
