Mandala Dotting

Wednesday, May 27: 5 - 9 PM

Explore circular design as both an art and meditation. Using paint and application tools, watch as your mandalas emerge from the background one dot at a time. The word mandala comes from Sanskrit and means “circle.” Mandalas in Indian and Tibetan Buddhism are important contemplative and ritual tools that can support liberation from suffering. While this class does not teach a religious practice, we will embrace mandala creation as a way to heal, deal with grief, and find inner peace.

Tamara Gutierrez is an artist and lifelong resident of Superior, WI. She has developed her practice over 6 years after discovering the repetition of painting with dots helped ease grief and relieve depression. Each piece she paints is created without the use of stencils and emerges organically over the course of weeks. This craft has been deeply healing in her life while the response from admirers gives her great encouragement. A traveler at heart, Tamara loves exploring around the United States and Naxos, Greece.
