RHYTHM GUITAR
Thursdays, November 5, 12, and 19: 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Whether you want to play bluegrass, old time, or country, or even another type of music, good rhythm guitar is a crucial element of the mix. This class will dig into various elements of rhythm guitar playing, including timing, articulation, tone, hearing and choosing chords, and if time, bass notes and bass runs. Focusing on acoustic guitar playing, we’ll listen to examples of different regional and personal back up styles and leave with some strategies for continued learning. We’ll go over some basic music theory in common keys, get comfortable using a capo to play in less common keys, and go over some strategies for playing with others.
Tuition: $135 per participant
Materials Fee: None
Age: 16+, 10+ with adult
Ability Level: This class will be best for those who know at least some basic chords (G, D, A, E, C, F, Em, Am) in first position and have used a flat pick or thumb pick at least a little bit, but it is open to all levels. You’ll want a guitar, tuner, a few flat picks, a capo, and something to write on.
Bring to class: An acoustic guitar, a few flat picks, tuner, a capo, a recording device (like a phone) and something to write on.

Anyone with financial need is encouraged to apply for a half-tuition scholarship. To be considered, please submit a brief online application. Please note that CENTER FOR PEOPLE AND CRAFT is operating with limited financial resources and an entirely volunteer staff. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a spot for every applicant.
