A cozy night together
This past weekend, Center for People and Craft opened its doors for a winter gathering, A Cozy Night Together. The event featured a delicious dinner catered by Mama Safia (Ethiopian cuisine in Minneapolis) and Los Ocampo (Mexican cuisine in St. Paul) and live music from John Heine and Deb Wallwork. More than a dozen volunteers came early with strings of lights, candles, rugs, and pillows to bring a cozy touch to our classrooms.
Participants from CPC’s first Service Learning class were on hand to showcase the gorgeous Swedish trestle tables they built during January and February, teaching community members how to use hand planes to help finish the tabletops. Read more about that project here.
Along with helping to plane the tables, folks were working on all sorts of interesting projects around the space. A green wood carving circle included both experienced craftspeople and newbies. Several people brought fiber arts, working with straw, making lace, knitting, or sewing.
This Arts & Culture Vibrant Storefronts is funded, in part, by the City of Minneapolis Arts & Cultural Affairs Department.
