Intro to Green Wood Carving

Tuesdays, May 5 & 12 6-9pm:

Come learn the basics of green wood carving in a cozy atmosphere. You'll learn about carving knives and grips, wood grain and carving safety. We’ll start with fresh, green birch logs and learn to split the wood, design a simple project, then use carving axes, pull saws, and carving knives to create a finished product such as a butter spreader or spatula. Tool choice and sharpening will be addressed briefly.

Above all, we'll have fun together and go home with the confidence to keep carving. This class emphasizes patience, self expression and curiosity more than perfection—ideal for anyone ready to slow down, learn through doing, and make something with their hands. This two-session series is designed for beginners.
