Administrative Assistant (Part-Time)
Center for People and Craft
Minneapolis, MN

The Center for People and Craft is a community-based arts organization in Minneapolis dedicated to fostering creativity, connection, and learning through hands-on craft. Through classes, workshops, and public events, we bring together artists, neighbors, and learners of all backgrounds to build skills and community.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our growing programming. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating order behind the scenes, communicating clearly, and helping mission-driven creative work happen.

Please note: the Administrative Assistant is a new position within a startup organization. The responsibilities below represent the tasks we currently need support with; however, we are seeking someone who can work collaboratively with leadership to help shape, define, and articulate the scope of the role, including its balance in relation to the Co-Directors. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with leadership to coordinate class logistics, maintain administrative systems, and support communication with instructors, participants, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Registration Coordination

  • Track the status of class registrations and prepare periodic enrollment reports for leadership

  • Add classes and events to the organization’s Google Calendar

  • Manage class waitlists when programs reach capacity

Communications

  • Monitor and triage the organization’s main email inbox

  • Respond to routine inquiries and route messages to appropriate staff

  • Submit event information to community arts calendars and other public listings

  • Submit required event updates to the organization’s grant partner

Administrative & Organizational Systems

  • Keep Google Drive files organized and accessible

  • Take notes during staff meetings and help draft internal documents as needed

  • Track and stay on top of facility purchases and basic operational needs

Financial & Administrative Support

  • Record program income and organizational expenses in accounting records

  • Submit rent invoices to the organization’s grantor

  • Collect instructor contracts and W-9 forms and maintain organized records

Facilities Coordination

  • Coordinate with the organization’s weekly cleaner

  • Help ensure the physical space is well maintained and supplied

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable managing many small but important tasks. This is a new position for a startup organization, and the exact scope of the work will be determined collaboratively between the candidate and leadership.

We are especially interested in candidates who:

  • Are highly detail-oriented and reliable

  • Communicate clearly and professionally in writing

  • Are comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar)

  • Enjoy supporting community-centered arts programming

  • Can manage multiple responsibilities and follow through independently

Experience with nonprofit administration, arts programming, or small organization operations is helpful but not required.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time: approximately 10 hours per week

  • Hourly pay: $22–$25/hour, depending on experience

  • Location: Primarily remote with occasional in-person coordination in Minneapolis
